Trauma Made Me Hot – Mariah Girouard

Award-winning comedian Mariah Girouard presents “Trauma Made Me Hot” a work in progress storytelling hour about murder, survival, and staying sexy in spite of all the shit life throws at you. It’s less stand-up, more live memoir. A raw narrative about what happens when life gives you rotten lemons, and how not to drown in bittersweet lemonade. Think (kind of?) comedy on the edge of a true crime documentary. Because trauma doesn’t just leave scars, it chisels cheekbones and gives you a fierce personality to match.

Disclaimer: This story is 100% true, and there are themes of murder, domestic violence, attempted murder, and sexual violence. It is one of the first times Mariah is telling this story on stage in front of an audience, so very little of it will be funny; it’s just to see where the funny bits could be. There will be a Q and A after the show to help Mariah think of ways to further drive the narrative in future performances and hopefully turn it into something funny and ultimately relatable.
